Dip's Discs recently hosted and presented the inaugural SRO - The Skagit River Open Disc Golf Tournament, and it was an event to remember. Held at the picturesque Whitmarsh DGC in Burlington, Washington, this one-day, two-round, C-Tier tournament attracted 72 players eager to test their skills alongside the iconic Skagit River.
The tournament featured both pro and amateur divisions, with the Pro Purse reaching an impressive $868, thanks to Dip's Discs adding an additional $300 cash to the pool. Amateur champions were awarded Dip's Discs scrip totaling over $1000 across all divisions, providing an exciting incentive for players of all levels.
Despite facing challenging weather conditions including rain, hail, snow, and wind, participants embraced the elements and enjoyed a memorable day of disc golf. Tournament Director Eric Dipzinski, owner of Dip's Discs, along with Assistant Tournament Director Lucas Latta, ensured the event ran smoothly and successfully.
The SRO tournament marked the launch of what promises to be an annual tradition, with plans for many more editions to come. It was a testament to the growing popularity of disc golf in the Skagit River region and beyond.
A special shoutout goes to Team Dip's Discs members Eric Dipzinski, Lucas Latta, Anthony Edwards, Hunter Brooks and Ken Claborn for their dedication in manning the Dip's Discs shop, braving the elements, competing in the event and providing top-notch support to the Dip's Discs mission and initiative: #Throwkindness.
As a reminder, the #Throwkindness initiative with Dip's Discs is committed to spreading positivity and inclusivity through the sport of disc golf. For every disc purchased, Dip's Discs pledges to donate one to various community groups, ensuring that individuals of all ages and backgrounds have access to the joys of disc golf and its associated benefits.
